How to use these tools(1) Metal spudger opening tool
The metal pry tool is used to open the casing of your iPod. If done right, there should be little to no scratching on the iPod casing. Over time, we have found this method to be much more effective than that demonstrated in our video, where the fragile plastic pry tools are used.(1) Mini phillips screwdriver
Once inside your iPod Video 5th Generation, there are small phillips screws that will need to be removed in order to access various areas and remove certain parts.(1) Mini suction cup
The suction cup is not used in the repair of this model but can come in handy for future repairs.(1) Mini flathead screwdriver
The small flathead is used to lift up the iPod Video's battery plug, allowing the battery cable to be removed.(2) Durable non-conductive pry tools
(2) Durable non-conductive guitar picks
Use the non-conductive pry tools and picks when unlatching connectors that are attached to your iPod Video 5th Generation logic board. This is a good precaution to avoid potential static and short circuit damage.

'Good buy of the $$$.'

'The job didn't actually need all of the tools in the kit and they broke pretty fast. Instead, I had to use the plastic tools to get the job started and used a flexible guitar pick for the rest. The other (metal) tools were more sturdy, but had no value (to me) b/c I didn't need them.'

'Good buy for the price but if using to fix multiple ipods I would buy a more durable set. Would buy again if I was just fixing one. Thanks Gadget menders!'

'Must have tools for repairing your own iPod. I like the metal blade the best but good to have plastic option. Used for my 5th gen ipod. Price is very reasonable. Love their web videos and they answered my emails about how to repair.'

'Took ipod apart in seconds. The plastic pry bars are ineffective but the kit's metal bar worked great. There are 2 screwdrivers ,one of which works for the internal screws but the other just has a point on the end and would be more useful with a small flat head as in the youtube video'

'i may have used the wrong blue plastic opener to get my case open because i broke it but there was another blue plastic opener which didn't break and i successfully opened the case in 5 minutes. The little screwdrivers are not magnetic but attaching a little magnet to the screwdriver worked great.'

'Everything needed to open up an iPod video.'
